These downloadable music files come in three different formats. BWAV at 48kHz for professional use as well as MP3 for web use. The other format is the "Music Editors Toolkit" which is again at 48kHz but not only contains the full mix of the music cue but also various stereo music stems that the editor can mix according to their needs.
For Instance: many times I've been asked by dubbing mixers if "lead" instruments can be placed on separate tracks so that they can mix dialogue and music together more effectively. So instead of having to fade down the entire music cue to clear a line of dialogue or FX all they have to do is fade the "lead Instrument" track, leaving the music bed intact but digging enough of a "hole" to allow the dialogue/FX to poke through.
