Music Editors Toolkits for Video Editors

The music editors toolkit is essentially a number of premixed stereo audio stems and a mono click track. All you have to do is place the files in your video editor application's timeline at the same starting time so you can then mix the separate elements of the music track in sync.

Once the music stems are placed in the timeline, set the audio levels of the music tracks to around -6db to -10db to avoid any clipping due to the combination of the extra tracks. If you don't want to hear the click track then mute it, the click is there as more of a visual aid to help you find edit points in the music track.

Once you have done the initial setup of the music stems, you can then use your applications audio keyframes to mix the music tracks in with your dialogue and FX tracks with much greater flexibility than with just a stereo music track
.

For Instance, you can adjust the level of just the lead instrument track to allow dialogue to poke through more effectively instead of the usual ducking of the entire music track. This will allow you to create much more polished and professional sounding mixes.

Mixing the separate elements of the toolkit or muting certain instruments will also give you the ability to create different sounding music cues throughout your project. Allowing musical consistency without too much repetition.
